How to Hang Pictures on Plaster Walls Without Nails

Before you try to hang a picture on a plaster wall with nails... STOP!!

Plaster walls have a tendency to crack and crumble when you hammer a nail directly into the them. Self-adhesive picture hanging strips are much quicker and easier to use... And much less likely to cause damage to your walls.

Read on for a step-by-step guide to hanging pictures on plaster without nails or drilling.

How to hang pictures on plaster without nails or drilling

Weigh the frame

Start by weighing your frame to determine how many picture hanging strips you need. VELCRO® Brand HANGables® Picture Hanging Strips  come in four different sizes that can hold different weights so make sure you pick the right one:

Small Squares - Up to 500g per set

Strips - Up to 2kg per set

Corners - Up to 6kg per set

Large Rectangles - Up to 7.5kg per set

Make sure the wall is clean and dry

Next, wipe the wall with a clean, damp cloth to remove any dust or dirt that could reduce the effectiveness of the picture hanging strips.

Attach the picture hanging strips

Now to attach the picture hanging strips to the frame. Place one half of each set in each corner with the arrows facing upwards.

Then pair the sets and press down firmly (without removing the release liner just yet!)

Fix the frame to the wall

Now remove the release liner and press the frame firmly in position against the wall (we'd recommend using a spirit level at this stage to make sure you hang it straight!)

Press it firmly against the wall for 30-60 seconds before lifting the frame up and off the wall. Leave it for an hour to give the adhesive time to set.

Step back and admire your handiwork!

Last but not least, put the frame back on the wall and step back to see your frame hung on a plaster wall without one single nail!
