As the world tries to slow the spread of COVID-19, keeping your hands clean while you’re on the go is more important than ever.
Follow our quick and easy tutorial to find out how to make a DIY hand sanitiser holder for your purse, bag or backpack. This homemade hand gel holder clips easily onto your bag with a key chain to make sure you always have a bottle of hand sanitizer to hand when you need to wash your hands on the go!
How to Make a DIY Hand Sanitiser Holder
Watch our video tutorial or read our step-by-step instructions to find out what to do!
This hand sanitiser holder tutorial can be adapted to fit ANY SIZE bottle so start by creating a template that you will use to cut your fabric to the right size. Draw around your hand gel bottle with a pencil and then draw another outline 1/2 inch all the way around it. Round off the corners and cut it out. Repeat twice.
Next, fold another piece of fabric in half and fold down the long flap on your paper template. Use this to cut out another piece of fabric. When you’ve finished this stage, you should have three pieces of fabric to work with.
2) Sew your hand sanitiser holder together
Now to start sewing! This DIY hand gel holder is easiest to make with a sewing machine but if you don’t have one, a needle and thread works just as well.
Fold and iron a small flap at the bottom of each piece of fabric. Then lay them on top of each other and sew all the way around the edge.
3) Turn it inside out
Once you’ve finished sewing, clip the corners of your hand sanitiser holder and fold it inside out. It helps to use a pen to poke out the corners!
4) Attach VELCRO® Brand Stick On for Fabrics Ovals
Slide in a bottle of hand sanitiser and stick one side of a set of ovals to the main body of the hand gel holder and another to the long flap. This will provide a quick and easy fastener.
5) Attach a key chain
Finally, slide a key chain over the long flap. When the flap is folded over, the key chain will stay in place and make it easy to attach your DIY hand sanitiser holder to your purse or backpack.
And that’s it! Let us know if you try your hand at this useful craft idea!

Your kids will be the best-dressed dragons, so what are you waiting for? Let’s get started!
How to Make A DIY Dragon Costume
What You’ll Need
1 Meter of fabric for scales and wings
1/2 Meter of solid fabric for the tail
1 Zip-up hooded sweatshirt
1 Pack of VELCRO® Brand Sew On Tape
Polyester stuffing
Scissors
Sewing machine
Jacket
1. To start, cut your fabric into eight large scales, ten small scales, and 20 tiny spikes.
2. Then, pin or clip the large scales together, right sides facing. Repeat this with the rest of the shapes.
3. Sew a 1/2 cm inseam around all the shapes, leaving a small gap to turn out.
4. Next, you'll be working on the wings. Place the scales aside. Tape several pieces of copy paper together and lay the hoodie on top. Extend one of the arms out and with a pen or pencil, freehand the wing shape. Then draw a 1 cm inseam.
5. Cut out two wing shapes, placing the side that sits against the body on the fold of the fabric.
6. Pin or clip the wing together and sew like below:
7. For the scales, you’ll want to pin them starting from the top of the hood, smallest to largest. Pin in place one tiny spike, five small scales, and four large scales. You’ll use the rest of the tiny spikes on the tail.
8. Next, sew the wings to the back of the sweatshirt. To do this, sew each side to the sleeve, leaving a small inseam. Then open the jacket to sew the wings to the torso.
Tail
9. To start the tail, measure the waist size and divide it in half (we’ll call this measurement X). Cut two strips of the solid cotton fabric 5 cm wide by X. Fold each strip in half lengthwise and sew along the top and sides.
Turn out and iron.
10. Cut 12 cm of VELCRO® Brand Sew On Tape and sew along all four sides.
11. Cut the tail pieces and lay one down. Then, take the tiny spikes and arrange them on the tail with the top facing down. Next, sandwich the second piece of fabric to the remaining material and pin or clip together.
12. Sew the scales to the tail with a 1/2 cm inseam. Leave a gap at the bottom of the tail to turn out.
13. Fasten the hook and loop straps together and place them inside of the tail.
Take the ends of the belt and pin them to the sides of the tail.
14. Take your oval cut out and pin or clip it around the tail’s open end. Sew the tail, straps, and oval piece together.
15. Turn out the tail using the gap you made in step 11. Stuff the tail with Polyester stuffing and hand stitch the gap closed.
And that’s it! Dress your kids in this DIY dragon costume and get ready for them to roar!

Make a sustainable and fully customizable case for your makeup with a DIY reusable makeup roll! In this easy sewing tutorial, we’ll show you how to make a reusable makeup roll with our VELCRO® Brand Stick On for Fabrics Tape! Perfect for protecting your makeup bristles, this DIY makeup roll can be washed and re-used time after time. Use it for a variety of brushes, bottles and even pencils, the makeup roll can fit all your essentials.
How To Make A DIY Makeup Roll
What you’ll need
1 full meter of fabric (we used a ½ meter of 2 different colors)
VELCRO® Brand Stick On For Fabric Tape
Clips or Pins
Scissors
Iron
Sewing Machine and thread
What to do:
Start by choosing your fabric. You can pick one or two pieces of fabric. If you choose two different materials, each fabric should be a ½ meter. Cut two pieces of each size: 38cm x 22cm, 38cm x 12cm, 38cm x 15cm, and 2cm x 20cm.
Next, match each size together with the right side of the fabric touching. You’ll want to pin or clip the fabric in place.
Now it’s time for the fun part! Sew around each piece, leaving a 1/2cm inseam. While sewing the outer section of the pouch, take the largest piece (38cm x 22cm) and leave a small 7cm gap on the right side. This is where your strap will be sewn in, so make sure the gap is placed in the middle.
Turn out each piece and iron.
Next, place the strap (2cm x 20cm) piece into the gap left on the outer section of the pouch (the 38cm x 22cm piece).
Now align your 38cm x 12cm piece with the outer section of the roll. This will create your pockets. Then topstitch around the bottom and the sides of the 38cm x 22cm piece.
For a custom fit, place your makeup inside of the pocket. Use a ruler and a pen with disappearing ink, (or a pencil,) to draw crisp lines (roughly 5cm apart).
Sew along the lines, making several small pockets.
Iron to erase the marking or use an eraser if you used a pencil.
Now, align the last piece, (38cm x 15cm) to the top of the roll. Pin and sew along the top.
Last but not least, place one side of the VELCRO® Brand Stick On For Fabrics Tape on the tab, and the other on the back of the roll.
Make sure they line up and that’s it! Place your cosmetics inside, roll-up, and go!

Perfect for keeping your car clean, this DIY sustainable bin can be washed and reused time after time. Perfect for long car rides or even short ones, this bin can hold all of your trash while keeping your car clutter-free!
How to make a DIY sustainable car bin
What You’ll Need:
(1) 25cm x 50cm piece of fabric for the exterior
(2) 25cm x 25cm coated cotton or other water-resistant fabric for the lining
(2) 8cm x 25cm fabric for the strap
(2) 15cm x 20cm fabric for the lid (one piece out of lining fabric and one piece out of exterior material)
(1) 25cm x 50cm medium or heavy-weight interfacing (iron-on or sew-in) fabric
First, take your strap fabric and lay the piece on an ironing board. Fold it in half.
Open the fabric back up and fold the edges to meet the visible crease.
Then fold along the crease again, pin and iron.
Sew a 3mm seam down both sides.
To make your second strap, repeat steps 1-4.
Lid:
To make the lid, lay both fabric pieces down on your workspace, right sides facing each other. Pin or clip together. (*OPTIONAL* to round the corners of the lid, fold the fabric in half width wise so the bottom corners meet. Then round the corners using scissors.)
Sew a 6mm seam around the edges, leaving only a small gap in the middle of one of the long sides of the fabric to turn out.
Turn out the lid and set aside.
Exterior Bag
Start the bag by ironing the interfacing to the back of your 10″ x 20″ exterior fabric.
Then, fold the fabric in half right-sides facing, and pin or clip together.
Sew a 12mm seam down both sides.
To create a flat bottom or box corners, place your hand inside your bag and find the bottom side seams. Flatten out the sides of the bag so the bottom hem forms a triangle. Try to make the triangles as symmetrical as possible.
Measure 5cm down from the top of the triangle and draw a line across.
Sew across those lines.
Cut each corner off above the seam.
Bag Lining
To create the lining, clip the 10″ x 10″ fabric together, right sides facing.
Sew a 12mm seam down the sides and the bottom of the bag, leaving a 7cm opening at the bottom-center hem to turn out later.
Repeat steps 9-11 to box the corners of the lining.
Assembly:
Now it’s time to see your masterpiece come together! Begin by clipping the lid in the middle of one of the wider sides of the bag, right sides facing.
Place the straps on either side of the lid. Clip in place.
You’re almost there! Sew the straps and lid to the bag. Go over them a few times for a studier hold.
Turn the exterior inside out, and neatly tuck the lining inside the bag, right sides facing. Make sure the exterior’s side seams and lining fabric are aligned. The straps and the lid should be tucked between these two layers.
Sew a 6mm seam around the top of the bag to join the exterior and lining together.
Turn the bag inside out, using the open seam at the bottom of the lining.
Sew up the hole in the lining
Apply VELCRO® Brand Sew on fasteners to the lid as a closure.
Apply loop side of Apply VELCRO® Brand Sew on fasteners to one strap and apply the hook side to the other strap, so they overlap.
Your DIY trash bag is finished! Now it’s time to admire your handiwork! Hang the bin over the backseat or even through the center console!

If you have a steady stream of Christmas cards arriving through your letterbox but don't know what to do with them, you're in the right place!
Read on to discover eye-catching ways to display Christmas cards without damaging the wall with pins, tape or tack!
Top Tips for the Perfect Christmas Card Display
Find the perfect spot
Start by finding the perfect spot for your Christmas card display. Above the mantelpiece is a great choice (just temporarily remove any pictures or mirrors during the festive season).
Swap pins for HANGables® Removable Squares
Next, grab a pack of VELCRO® Brand HANGables® Removable Squares. These are hands down the easiest way to display Christmas cards on the wall without leaving holes or marks and they'll peel cleanly off the wall after the festive season!
Each set has two pieces - the first piece sticks to the back of the card and the other one (with the easy peel tab and a removable adhesive) sticks firmly to the wall.

If you don't have room for a traditional Christmas tree or fancy doing something a little different with your décor this year, have a go at making a DIY Christmas tree on the wall!
It could not be easier to make a wall-mounted Christmas tree and it'll make your home look fabulously festive in no time! Read on to find out what to do!
This is one of the easiest Christmas crafts going... And one of the most impressive!
Start with around three packs of VELCRO® Brand HANGables® Micro Removable Hooks. For a decent sized tree, you'll need at least 18 hooks but you can make your DIY Christmas tree bigger or smaller depending on the amount of space available.
Starting at the top, stick the hooks on the wall in a Christmas tree formation, making the tree wider as you move downwards. The beauty of using these removable hooks is that they'll peel cleanly off the wall after Christmas, leaving no marks!
Next, drape a long string of Christmas lights from hook to hook. Start at the top so that the end of the lights that will lead to the plug ends up at the bottom of the tree.
If you're feeling extra festive, why not hang a star decoration at the top of the tree? You could even turn your DIY Christmas tree into a fabulous festive Christmas cards display by using mini wooden pegs to hang cards off the wire.

Who else grew up playing Connect Four? This classic board game has been loved by generations of children but the most fun way to play it is on a giant scale!
Read on to find out how to make your own giant four in a row game with VELCRO® Brand Stick On Tape. This DIY outdoor game is perfect for birthday parties and weddings... Or just some fun in the sun!
Start by cutting a square out of an old bed sheet and stick it to the wall. Black works best but to keep the cost down, use whatever colour you have at home!
Stick the hook side of each strip to the sheet and the loop side of each strip to the back of a paper plate.
How to play four in a row (game rules)
Now you're ready to play! The rules of giant four in a row are simple.
Give a set of paper plates (red or yellow) to each player or team. To win, you must be the first to stick four paper plates of the same colour in a row - either horizontally, vertically or diagonally.
Take it in turns to stick a coloured plate on the wall. On each turn, try to build up a row of your own coloured plates or block your opponent!
The game is over when someone gets four in a row or all the spaces are filled, resulting in a stalemate.
Four in a row tactics
Wondering how to win at four in a row? Try these strategies!
Place your first checker in the middle column.
Try and predict any moves that your opponent makes that look like they might lead to a win - and block them at every opportunity!
Create vertical stacks of checkers to force your opponent to block you instead of building their own row.
Watch for "game ending" moves and block your opponent whenever you spot one!
Fancy having a go at making your own giant four in a row game? Pick up a pack of VELCRO® Brand Stick On Tape or stay on our blog for more creative ways to use hook and loop fasteners!

Before you throw out those old toy cars from the back of your child's toy cupboard... Stop!
Along with an old picture frame, you can turn old toy cars into a fun piece of upcycled décor within minutes. An easy way to turn something old into something new - let's get started!
Start with an old picture frame - preferably wooden so you can paint it. Make sure the frame is wider than the widest toy car that you're going to stick on it.
Next, paint your picture frame black. Do a couple of layers if necessary.
Next, take a pack of VELCRO®Brand Stick On Tape and cut it into small strips (4-5cm long). Stick one half of each strip around the picture frame to make it look like a race track.
Then stick the other half of a strip underneath each toy car.
And that's it! Stick a couple of toy cars on the frame and pop in a picture!
Use this fun and interactive piece of upcycled décor to decorate a kid's bedroom or playroom. And kids can take it in turns to move the cars around the "race track" on the frame!

Heading to a festival this summer?
Chances are you’ll know how difficult it can be to find your tent in a sea of other tents so today we’re going to show you how to make an easy festival flag!
It’s a great way to make your tent recognisable when you head back late at night – and you won’t believe how easy it is to make with some old sheets andVELCRO® Brand Fabric Tape. Let’s get started!
Make your own DIY festival flag
What you need
Two old sheets (in two different colours)
An extendable flag pole (you can pick one up pretty cheaply online)
Start by cutting out a long triangular piece of cardboard – this will be the stencil that you use to create each flag.
If you’re wondering what size it needs to be, ours was 12 inches long on its shortest side.
Once you’ve got a stencil, take a pen and use it to draw a flag shape on the first piece of material. (You’ll need to do this three or four times to make as many flags as you need).
Step 2
The next step of making your festival flag is super easy – cut out all the flags that you’ve drawn onto your material. Take your time doing this to make sure you cut the flags out fairly neatly (although they don’t need to be absolutely perfect!)
Step 3
Next, it’s a good idea to lay your festival flags out in position so you know roughly where you want them to be stuck on the flag pole.
Step 4
Then take a pack ofVELCRO® Brand Fabric Tape– you’ll be using this to attach your flags to the pole!
Step 5
Now to cut your fabric tape to size. You need a piece long enough to fit along the shortest side of the flag.
For each flag, you’ll need one strip of hooked tape (the scratchy piece) and one strip of looped tape (the softer piece).
Step 6
Stick the two lengths of hook and loop fasteners next to each other (roughly about 50mm apart).
Step 7
Then simply fold the flag over so that the two parts of theVELCRO® Brand Fabric Tape stick together. Press it down tightly so that it doesn’t come loose.
And that’s it! Your DIY festival flag is ready for festival season!

Whether you're throwing a birthday party, decorating a child's bedroom or getting married, bunting is a lovely way to decorate. But it can be a pain to hang it on the wall without leaving holes or marks.
Read on for different ways to hang bunting (including clever ways that won't damage the walls).
How to Hang Bunting
Use drawing pins
Using drawing pins is one of the most popular ways to hang bunting. They do the job but leaving holes in the wall is not ideal.
Use them if you must, but before you put holes in your walls, bear in mind that there are other damage-free options to consider.
Tie it to existing structures
If possible, hang your bunting without pins by tying it to existing structures. For example, if you're throwing a garden party, you could hang your bunting across the garden from tree to tree, or fence post to fence post.
This is a really easy way to hang bunting in a way that won't damage the walls - plus, it's a more interesting way to decorate!
Adhesive hooks
Last but not least is our favourite way to hang bunting: adhesive hooks. They're absolutely ideal for hanging bunting on a wall; VELCRO® Brand HANGables® Adhesive Hooks stick on the wall securely and peel off easily when your party's over, leaving no holes, marks or damage.
