What to do

Start with three empty tin cans - make sure they're clean and dry and then spray paint them in the colour of your choice.

Spray painting is best done outside, on top of a few sheets of newspaper, and you may need to do two coats (check the instructions on the can).

Next, take a pack of VELCRO® Brand Heavy Duty Strips . The beauty of using hook and loop to fix your utensil holder to the wall is that the tin cans can be simply peeled off the wall when you need to clean them.

Stick the 'loop' side of a strip on the back of each tin can and stick the 'hook' side of each strip on the wall where you want to put your utensil holder.

Leave the strips for one hour to give the adhesive time to set before you fix your tin cans to the wall and put any weight in them.

Once the heavy duty strips have firmly stuck to the tins and tiles, stick the tin cans firmly to the strips on the wall.

Last but not least, fill your homemade utensil holder with all your kitchen utensils! Each set of VELCRO® Brand Heavy Duty Strips  can hold up to 7kg per 50mm x 100mm strip, which is ideal for holding the weight of wooden spoons and other heavy utensils.
